Newham High Risk Panel
The need for a multidisciplinary approach to advice and guidance for professionals is recognised by:
- Newham' Council Adult Social Care
- Newham Safeguarding Adults Board
- Partner organisations
The Newham High Risk Panel (NHRP) meets regularly to review complex and/or high risk cases that remain ongoing despite all reasonable steps being taken to manage the risk. The panel considers complex cases such as those related to supporting people who:
- have long standing issues with self-neglect and hoarding
- are rough sleeping and street homeless where engagement is difficult and risks are assessed as very high
- are change resistant drinkers
The NHRP may be represented by senior representatives from:
- Local authority Adult Social Care Local Police
- Mental health services both Adult Social Care and East London Foundation Trust
- Community Safety
- Housing
- Safeguarding representatives from the Intergrated Care System
- London Fire Brigade
- Local Authority Commissioners
- Alcohol Change UK
- And other specialists from the statutory and voluntary sectors as and when required.
It seeks to share information and identify joint solutions and approaches to managing complex risks.
The high risk panel links with other multi agency forums as needed.
How to refer a case
Members of the public and concerned professionals from other partner agencies are advised to raise an adult safeguarding concern in the first instance when they are concerned for the safety, health and wellbeing of any Newham resident. The adult safeguarding process will determine if a case needs to then be referred to the high risk panel in due course.
Information on how to raise safeguarding concerns about adults can be found here
