Course Details

This training, provided by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, aims to equip individuals with the skills to recognise and safely address harassment in various public settings. Following the tragic case of Sarah Everard, demand for bystander training has surged, as more people and organisations seek proactive ways to combat the everyday harassment and aggressive behaviours that contribute to the wider cycle of violence against women and girls. The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, with over 30 years of expertise in personal safety, is working alongside the wider community to meet this need.

The prevalence of harassment underscores the importance of public education:

  • 80% of women in the UK report experiencing harassment in public spaces.
  • 75% of harassment victims say no one intervened.
  • 93% of women and 90% of men in the UK feel there is insufficient training on how to safely intervene.
  • 86% of those who intervened reported that their actions improved the situation.
  • 86% of people did not intervene because they didn’t know how.

(Statistics from surveys by L’Oréal Paris and IPSOS, 2019-2021)

This programme empowers individuals to raise awareness of harassment, build skills, and confidently intervene in situations across settings such as public spaces, transport, schools, and workplaces, creating a safer environment for all. Join us in supporting women’s safety and VAWG prevention through this vital training opportunity.
