Newham Council has commissioned Little Fish Theatre to deliver a powerful series of theatrical performances in secondary schools across the borough. These plays are carefully designed to address and raise awareness of serious issues, specifically misogyny and violence against women and girls (VAWG), by engaging students in a meaningful and thought-provoking way.

The project seeks to cultivate a culture of respect and equality among young people, aiming to empower students with a deeper understanding of the impacts of misogyny and VAWG. Each performance is thoughtfully crafted to resonate with students, blending relatable narratives and interactive elements that encourage students to think critically and discuss openly. This approach aims to inspire positive behavioural change, equipping young people with the skills to identify and challenge harmful attitudes both in and beyond their school environments, ultimately fostering a safer, more inclusive community.

Project Objectives:

  • Educate and Engage: To inform secondary school students on the complexities of misogyny and violence against women and girls, helping them understand these issues in a supportive environment.
  • Promote Positive Behavioural Change: To foster respect, equality, and empathy by challenging students to consider their roles in creating a respectful society.
  • Raise Awareness and Encourage Dialogue: To create safe spaces for students to discuss these critical topics, providing them with the knowledge and tools needed to build respectful relationships.
