Senior members of the team contribute to a number of strategic panels within the local authority and are also members of boards and panels with external partners. For example Child Health and Resource panel, Vulnerability and Exploitation panel, YOT strategic board etc.
Virtual School Education specialists have recently been involved in the successful delivery of a whole-family domestic abuse programme supported through the Department for Education’s Children’s Social Care Innovation Programme.
University of East London collaborations
There is an ongoing collaboration with the University of East London (UEL) on a number of projects including a second book of poetry and prose entitled “Newham Calling” created by Care Leavers and shared with young people, carers and professionals. The publication reflects the young people’s lives in their own words.
Partnerships and mentoring
The team also works with selected projects such as Breakthrough and Compass mentoring projects and Way 4ward – a specialist mentoring service for the young people most at risk of exploitation.
