Mayer Parry Bridge
London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH) and London Borough of Newham (LBN) are working in partnership with Transport for London (TfL) on the construction of a new river bridge connecting Leven Road in Poplar with the Leaway Canning Town in Newham. On the Tower Hamlets side, the bridge will land in the new Leven Road development. On the Newham side, it will land in the public piazza on Segro site in Newham. The new bridge will connect
- Canning Town industrial estate and new homes at EMR site in Newham to Blackwall Trading Estate and Canary Wharf in Tower Hamlets
The council aims to deliver this bridge by 2025. Led by Newham Council’s Regeneration Team this new river bridge will provide surrounding communities with access to the Leaway and a route to jobs and social and transport infrastructure. The bridge will provide a vital new connection from Leaside developments to Canning Town interchange. The bridge will facilitate a new East-West route for existing and new Leaside residents to access employment uses at Canning Town centre and to park and leisure facilities at Leven Road and Chrisp Street. The new bridge will also open up the Poplar Riverside area to cultural offers at City Island, Newham's ecological park and Thames path to the south.
