Poplar Reach Bridge
London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH) and London Borough of Newham (LBN) are working in partnership with Transport for London (TfL) and London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) on the construction of a new river bridge connecting Leven Road in Poplar with Cody Dock in Newham. The Poplar Reach Bridge was originally envisaged as part of the 2010 Fatwalk since renamed the Leaway Walk - which was a series of interventions to complete the Leaway with the ultimate objective of providing a continuous pedestrian and cycle route from the Thames to the Queen Elizabeth Park and Beyond.
Construction is anticipated to commence in late 2023 and the bridge is expected to be open for public use in 2025. This new river bridge will provide surrounding communities with access to the Leaway and a route to jobs and social and transport infrastructure, including Star Lane DLR, Bromley By Bow and Canning Town. The bridge will land next to the Cody Docks in Newham , providing easy access.
