Homeless prevention advice and assistance
To access the Homeless Prevention and Advice Service (HPAS) you will need to complete an application form and submit your documents online.
If you are under 18 years of age we recommend that you contact Social Services who will assist you to complete this form. To get this support please call the Newham Contact Centre on 020 8430 2000 who will transfer you to the social work duty team.
Before you start the form please read this guidance.
Information you will need to complete the form
- Personal details (including national insurance number if you have one)
- Household details
- Accommodation details for the past 5 years
- Your partner's accommodation details for the past 5 years (if you add them to your application)
- Employment details for you and any one working in your household
- Benefit details for you and anyone receiving benefits in your household
- Medical and support information for household members
- Education information for household members
Documents you will need to upload into the form
- Proof of identity and immigration status for all members of the household
- Proof of your housing history for the last 5 years
- Proof of pregnancy for any household members pregnant
- Proof that you are facing eviction or can no longer stay in your accommodation
- Proof of income for all household members (where relevant)

Support to complete this form
You can use a computer at any library in Newham to complete this form. There are library staff available to help you navigate the form, but they will not be able to complete the form for you.
If you have any kind of support worker they are likely to be able to assist you with filling in the form.

There are limited appointments at the Housing Hubs for homelessness support and these need to be booked in advance. To arrange an appointment please email the team at hpas@newham.gov.uk.
