Exceptions
Some complaints are dealt with via an alternative process with different timescales:
- Adult social care
- Childrens social care complaints
- School complaints
- Complaints about Councillors
- Complaints relating to the processing of your personal data or to the handling of your Data Subject Access Request
- If you disagree with political/policy decisions you can contact your councillor directly to voice your objections
Some issues will be dealt with by an appeal, comment or claim, rather than by making a complaint:
- Council Tax and valuation band appeals
- Housing benefit appeal
- Parking tickets appeals
- Comment on Planning applications
- School admissions appeals
- Claims for damages to property or personal injury
Is your issue something we can’t investigate?
There may be times when we are unable to investigate your complaint. Check your complaint does not fit any of the following criteria:
- Where there are ongoing legal proceedings
- Where the complaint has already been heard by a Court of Law
- Complaints under police investigation
- Complaints about live procurement processes
- Allegations of fraud
- The complaint relates to something that happened over 12 months ago (excluding ongoing issues)
