Music Making Sessions at Stratford Youth Zone
Young people learn to produce music
Newham’s Stratford Youth Zone and partners have organised a series of music production sessions to help young people develop valuable creative skills.
Music in a Week was a summer project that ran for a week at Stratford Youth Zone and taught young people how to use creative thinking to produce their own music.
Music Producers Club was a similar project that followed during October half-term when Stratford Youth Zone organised a week-long event teaching young people about the different technology and programs they can use in music production.
Stratford Youth Zone has also been working in partnership with Newham Music – an award-winning music hub for Newham which provides high quality music education and opportunities to Newham’s young people, and Create Define Release, a non-profit multi-platform music project, to organise beat-making sessions.
A spokesperson said: “The young people have achieved so much with these projects and have felt so proud of what they are capable of.
“This just shows how amazing and beneficial it is to work in partnerships. We will continue to build on our relationship with Newham Music and Create Define Release.”
Music produced by young people has been played at various socials and the Open Mic Night.
Stratford Youth Zone and Newham Music will continue to organise beat-making sessions to enable young enthusiasts to further develop the skills they have picked up.
