Lister Community School
Lister Community School recently started a major expansion programme, managed by the Council, funded from DfE Basic Need allocation, to expand from 9 forms of entry (1350 places) to 11 forms of entry (1650 places), in order to meet forecast demand for secondary school places.
Whilst the school buildings and entrances elements of the expansion are proceeding, the highways works are planned to start in summer 2021, subject to the outcome of the consultation. The proposed highway works include:
- 2 new zebra crossings to provide safer crossing points
- Speed reduction measures and improved accessibility at crossing points to improve road safety for all road users
- New school keep clear markings to improve road safety outside school gates
- Changes to waiting & loading restrictions and parking restrictions near the school to protect entry and exit, improve the flow of traffic and improve road safety for all road users
Construction is planned to start in August 2021 and end early October 2021.
