Grant conditions and principles
What makes Newham’s scheme unique and considered front running by leading experts is our grant conditions and principles which are co-produced with Newham schools. They ensure that school meals act as a lever to maximise impact on public health, community wealth and climate action in the borough.
We monitor the conditions through an annual survey, this allows us to identify schools who may require additional support in meeting the conditions. The grant conditions include, but are not limited to, paying London Living Wage, LGPS pension scheme and being a Soil Association ‘Food for Life Served Here’ caterer.
