Habitat Area 1: Common Blue Butterfly
Plants at the Abbey Mills site have been chosen specifically to help the Common Blue Butterfly including the Common Sorrell one of the favourites of the butterfly.
Focus Species: Common Blue butterfly
The Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) is the most widespread blue butterfly in Britain and Ireland. Though they’re called ‘Common Blue’ it’s the male butterfly that has beautiful illuminous blue wings with delicate white veins. The colour of females in Southern England is typically brown.
