When you carry out building work, you must not store materials on the street without a licence.
Before you apply, you should:
- Check the amount you have to pay
- Email skipsand.scaffolding@newham.gov.uk to find out whether there are any limits on the roads.
We cannot refund any payments you make in error.

Cost of a licence to store materials on the street
You can store materials on the street for a short time if the council says you can, but there might be conditions.
The fee as of 1st April 2024 is:
- £75.00 per week (or part of a week) for between 1 to 14 days
- £92.00 per week after the 14 day period
If you do store materials on the street without a licence you may get a fixed penalty fine of £150 or, in more serious cases, you may be prosecuted.
How to pay for your building materials licence
