On behalf of everyone at the Council and in Newham, we would like to express our sorrow at the loss of life, injury, destruction, and displacement caused by the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.
We stand with our Turkish and Syrian communities in Newham, many of whom will be extremely anxious for family and friends, and suffering distress at the news being reported from the region. We are monitoring the situation as it develops and will provide updates to this statement as necessary.
