A three-year Action Plan aims to support adults with Learning Disabilities to increase community awareness and inclusion and reduce inequalities.
The Learning Disability Action Plan for Adults 2022-25 was developed in partnership with residents with Learning Disabilities, Health and other partners to recognise the challenges that adults with Learning Disabilities face in society, and put in place measures to support those living in Newham live healthy, safe and fulfilling lives.
The Action Plan has six outcomes: Heard and Valued; Accommodation and Housing; Connected and Involved; Work and Purpose; Health and Social Care; and Carers. It also contains a commitment to monitor progress regularly and provide an annual update for residents to demonstrate accountability and ensure that the Plan is working for the community.
Cllr Neil Wilson, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, said: “This Action Plan supports our vision to enable residents with Learning Disabilities to live independently within the borough. I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to creating this Plan, helping us to make Newham a fairer, more equal place for every member of our Newham community.”
