join us! beckton parks community vision - an exhibiton

• Newham’s Cabinet hear update on progress of the master planning process
• Exhibition showcasing the community led-vision opens on Friday 15 July

Residents are invited to a three-day exhibition showcasing the community-led vision for the Beckton Parks Masterplan.

This open air exhibition will be taking place outside of Will Thorne Pavilion in Beckton District Park South, highlighting the outcomes of the past six months of engagement with residents.

The exhibition is a chance for residents to learn about what’s happened so far, and look forward to what’s to come in the next stages of the development of the Beckton Parks Masterplan.

The community led-vision is set out in the ‘Beckton Parks Masterplan Playbook’, which will be given away at the exhibition or available from Beckton Globe and Custom House libraries.

Newham’s Cabinet heard about the engagement so far and ideas received for the Beckton Parks Masterplan at their meeting on Tuesday 5 July.

Cllr James Asser, Cabinet Member for Environment and Sustainable Transport said:

“We committed to investing in these well-loved parks and open spaces and to engage with the local community. We want to build a plan that delivers quality greenspaces for the years ahead and to ensure that families are placed at the heart of that plan.

“So far over 1,500 residents have engaged with the masterplanning process. It is fantastic to see how much interest there is and this highlights the importance of these green spaces.

“The next stages of the masterplan will allow for further engagement with residents using the ideas and priorities that the local community has so far brought forward as a basis for that discussion.

“We made clear last year our commitment to bring forward a plan for a reinvigorated network of parks and greenspaces with a range of facilities; that work is continuing and developing in partnership with local people.

“This update at Cabinet shows the progress made and the opportunities and bright futures for Beckton parks that this masterplanning process is bringing forward.”
