A new tailored approach to supported accommodation in Newham was agreed by Cabinet last night.
Newham residents living in supported accommodation will have access to a new range of bespoke support, thanks to the approval of the supported accommodation Dynamic Purchase Vehicle (DPV).
The DPV will include support in the categories of Supported Living; Prevention and Floating Support; Vulnerable & Complex Homeless and Rough Sleeping Support; Extra Care; Shared Lives; Care Homes; and Immigration Advice and Support.
Cllr Neil Wilson, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Adult Social Care, said: “The council first approved a new vision for supported accommodation in 2020. We’ve been developing it since and I’m delighted that it’s now been put into place.
“We’re committed to providing accommodation that fits the needs of our residents and this is just part of the council’s ongoing work to ensure that all people in Newham are in environments that allow them to thrive and live a fulfilling life.”
The DPV will have an approved list of providers through which we can commission the care and support that residents will need. It will be in place for five years, with Cabinet having the option of extending it for a further five year period.
The scheme is part of the council’s ambitious Adults and Health vision to improve the health and wellbeing of all adults in the borough. The council is building a fairer Newham through supporting people to live as independently as possible within their local communities.
