The Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz, is hosting a focus group for female residents to discuss women’s safety concerns in Newham. The online event is being held on Thursday 10 February from 5.30 to 6.30pm.
Are there any places in the borough where you feel unsafe? Why? What can the Council and its partners do to help you feel safe?
What ideas do you have on how we change the harmful behaviours and challenge attitudes?
The Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz, said: “Women and girls should be able to move freely on our streets and open spaces without fear of sexual violence or harassment. I am asking women from all communities in Newham to take part in this important discussion to give their views. This will help us to manage our public spaces so that females are safe within them.”
The discussion will be an all-women’s space and information shared will be in confidence.
