Newham Local Plan Review – Get involved in shaping Newham’s future

x

People that live and work in Newham are encouraged to share their comments and ideas on the new Newham Local Plan.

The plan is a vital part of the future of the borough and looks at where we can build new housing and businesses as well as the infrastructure to support new builds. It is absolutely essential that residents, businesses and those working in the borough have their say on the plan and help shape the future of Newham.

The consultation runs from 18th October 2021 until  17th December. It will include stalls across the borough, open virtual workshops, and an opportunity to submit comments and ideas via a questionnaire, video or photograph. Visit https://newhamco-create.co.uk/en/folders/newham-local-plan-review  to find out more.

Your responses will help us assess whether our proposed solutions to Newham’s local needs and challenges are supported by residents. You know best what Newham needs – help us shape the solutions!

Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz said: “The Local Plan is the key planning tool that helps define the wider development of the borough. I want to ensure our residents are at the heart of this plan and have their say so their views drive this important process. I’d urge residents to get involved in the consultation process in person, online or via the virtual workshops and make their voices heard.”

The Local Plan is the key planning document which we use to assess planning applications and to manage growth, regeneration, and development in Newham. It is fundamental to the way that the borough develops – which itself is a key influencer on the quality of life in Newham.

All Councils are required to have an up-to-date Local Plan. We are refreshing ours so we can plan for the next 15 years and respond to our key challenges of delivering inclusive growth, supporting the Covid-19 recovery, and addressing our climate emergency.
