The Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz has released a statement following the news that a young woman has lost her life in a fatal car collision on Barking Road yesterday (Tuesday 15 October) at around 3:44pm.
Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz, OBE: “I am beyond heartbroken by the news that an 18-year-old young woman lost her life in a senseless and tragic road accident yesterday afternoon on Barking Road.
“Council officers are working with the Metropolitan Police to assist their enquiries and will be reaching out to the family to support them as they deal with their unimaginable loss.
“On behalf of everyone at Newham Council, my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this saddest of times.”
“We will of course also work to support the wider Newham community who will naturally be shocked and horrified by the loss of such a young life.
“I would urge any residents who saw the incident or has any CCTV or dash-cam footage of the incident to contact the police immediately on 101 or on X @MetCC, quoting CAD 4765/15OCT.”
