Tate & Lyle Sugars is delighted to announce that the Lyle’s Local Fund 2024 will be launched on 3 October 2024.
Running since 2017, the Fund has awarded over £200,000 to 95 projects that support safe, prosperous and healthy communities in Newham. Blown away by the number of applications to support incredible projects in the local community they receive each year, Tate & Lyle Sugars has decided to double the size of the Lyle’s Local Fund to £50,000 to support more projects that make Newham such a special place to live and work.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available and will be paid before the end of 2024. Applications are open from 3 October 2024. Organisations who wish to apply should visit the Grants section of the Newham Council website ( Lyle’s Local Fund – Funding for community projects – Newham Council) and use the forms available there. Local social enterprises, schools, charities, community groups and not-for-profit organisations are all expected to apply.
Tate & Lyle Sugars, which has been producing sugar and syrup in Newham for over 140 years, has a long history of supporting the local community of Newham. The Lyle’s Local Fund complements the company’s existing community engagement programme of support for local charities, schools and other community organisations, volunteering and in-kind support.
Claire Crill, Head of Corporate Affairs, Tate & Lyle Sugars said, “We are proud of our Newham roots and the Lyle’s Local Fund exists to support the very special organisations, projects and people who work hard to make our borough a better place to live and work. Each year, we are blown away by the number and variety of incredible funding applications and have decided to double the size of the Fund so we can support more organisations who contribute to making our borough the wonderful place it is.”
Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz OBE said “We are delighted with the significant increase in funding for the Lyle's Local Fund. This additional support will allow more innovative projects to be supported, further boosting the energy and opportunities within Newham.
“Our strong partnership with Tate & Lyle Sugars exemplifies our unwavering commitment to nurturing thriving local communities. We are dedicated to making this opportunity available to all community groups, especially those who are underrepresented.
“I urge all community-based groups in Newham to take advantage of this opportunity and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our borough."
