• Wide range of activities for all ages
• Free events with food provided for young people eligible for free school meals
An exciting programme of summer holiday activities is planned for children and young people in Newham with something for everyone.
From arts and crafts, fun day trips, rowing and music, the programme will cover every area of the borough with plenty of free activities also available.
Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz OBE said: “I am proud to announce our exciting summer programme which is filled with a variety of activities, guaranteed to keep our young people entertained over the holiday. There is lots on offer for all ages, in every part of Newham including rowing, football, coding, gardening, arts and crafts, trips to the seaside and much more. This year I was delighted to open the Shipman Youth Zone in Custom House and their summer programme enhances the offer already available at the other zones in Newham.
“For those youngsters eligible for our Holiday Activities and Food Programme, we have lots of great events where you can also get a free meal and snacks as well as having fun with your friends and even learning a new skill.”
Newham Council offers a Holiday Activities and Food Programme for all children eligible for free school meals aged between 4 and 16.
There is also a universal summer programme at the borough’s youth zones open to all children and young people aged 10-19 (up to 25 with SEND) provided by the council’s Youth Empowerment Service. Dedicated youth workers will support young people to access a safe and high quality programme as well as information, support and guidance.
