• Our Parks programme relaunches on 3 April across four parks in Newham
The Our Parks programme offering free fitness sessions for Newham residents of all ages is relaunching this April.
Set across Stratford Park, Central Park, Plashet Park, and Canning Town Recreation Ground, group classes will run weekly for residents of all ages and abilities to keep active as we head into the warmer months.
Councillor Neil Wilson, Cabinet member for Health and Adult Social Care said: “As one of the boroughs with the highest level of inactivity, it is important that we continuously develop new initiatives that encourage residents to get active in their local environment.
“The relaunch of Our Parks is a key milestone in our 50 Steps to a Healthier Newham strategy to ensure that residents’ health and well-being needs are met. We have worked hard to make sure that the programme is free to all residents so everyone can get involved and get active, no matter who they are.
I would encourage every resident to book a session in our fantastic parks which will no doubt be beneficial to their health and wellbeing.’’
From beginner ‘return to exercise’, circuits to boot camp classes, all the Our Parks group classes are taught by qualified trainers and adapted for all fitness capabilities
Maddy, a Newham resident who took part in previous Our Parks sessions said: “The exercise classes I take part in with Our Parks are great. Every single class I attend the instructors are always prepared, the encouragement and motivation they give always makes me feel empowered. The classes are a great way to unwind and get healthy. ’’
