• Wide ranging support continues to be available

The Government’s Household Support Fund has been extended from 1 April 2023 until 31 March 2024, which will further help Newham residents with the increasing cost of living.

Newham Council has been allocated an additional £6million by the Department for Work and Pensions to support vulnerable residents with significantly rising living costs. This funding is an extension of the Household Support Fund.

Financial assistance will be available for food, energy and other essentials, and will be distributed by the Council’s financial wellbeing service, Our Newham Money, to residents as well as to voluntary, community and faith sector organisations.

Between September 2022 and February 2023 Our Newham Money helped over 5,000 families receive immediate financial assistance with food and energy costs; it allocated £1.6million of its Hardship Support Fund for distribution to claimants.

The online form for the Government’s Household Support Fund will be open from 1 April for applicants to complete. Applications can also be made in person at Our Newham Money’s office at 112-118 The Grove, Stratford. Anyone requiring further information should visit www.ournewhammoney.co.uk
