Hear from one of our Occupational Therapists
Working at Newham Council has been great for my career development. I get to work collaboratively working with residents and their families, social workers, and external agencies to ensure that a person’s needs are at the forefront of the process.
OTs focus on improving independence and function. The objective is to help people do things for themselves rather than the conventional home care approach of doing things. Working as an OT entails using my assessment skills, goal setting, and knowledge of the medical, physical, emotional and cognitive impact of disability and illness, to ensure that enablement is tailored to an individual’s needs and to achieve personalised outcomes.
What our residents have to say
Mr M found the occupational therapy service to be very quick and helpful in supporting his mother who is now more independent in her environment.
I really appreciate the help and support I have received from the OT service. I'm impressed with the speed at which they have managed to get things moving.
Mum has already made very good use of the armchair recliner as she is now not spending as much time in bed.
Hopefully this will help her sleep a bit more at night time. The equipment does make a difference to the quality of life she will live.
