Trauma informed care training
Trauma results from when an event, or series of events, are experienced as physically or emotionally harmful or life threatening. This includes the impacts of poverty, racism, discrimination, domestic abuse, adolescent crime/violence and many more.
Being trauma informed means that services have awareness of how trauma can negatively impact on individuals and communities, and their ability to feel safe or develop trusting relationships. This awareness is then used to improve the accessibility and quality of services including working in collaboration and partnership with people and empowering them to make choices about their health and wellbeing.
Teesside University in association with North East London Training Hub is offering free trauma informed care workshops for people working in Newham. These are online, three hour sessions and will cover:
- Sources of trauma
- Impact of trauma, secondary and vicarious trauma
- Maintaining your own psychological wellbeing
- How to gain confidence in talking about trauma
- Handling disclosures.
A certificate of attendance will be sent following the session.
Please register for the most suitable date using the links below (you only need to attend one workshop). The link to join the workshop will be sent once you have been registered. If you have any queries, please contact: SHLS-Contracts@tees.ac.uk
