Cyber Security Awareness Session for Newham SMEs

Small businesses in Newham are the backbone of the local economy, with 95% employing fewer than 10 people. However, as businesses become more reliant on digital tools, they also become increasingly vulnerable to cyber threats. Cybercrime is a growing issue, with small businesses being a prime target for phishing attacks, ransomware, and data breaches.

Our Newham Business & Enterprise team is partnering with the Metropolitan Police’s Cyber Protect Team to offer local SMEs free cyber security awareness sessions.

The training will cover:

  • Identification and prevention of cyber threats.
  • Practical, cost-effective security solutions.
  • Incident response planning to minimize damage from cyber-attacks.

Cyber security is crucial for SMEs, as 50% of UK businesses reported experiencing a cyber-security breach or attack in 2024, with the average cost being £3,230. By investing in preventative measures and providing cyber security training in partnership with the Metropolitan Police, we can strengthen growth opportunities for our local economy, enhance public safety, and contribute to long-term economic resilience.

Act now to ensure that your business remains secure, competitive, and better prepared to respond to cybercrimes.
