Newham People's Budget Forums
Newham Council is committed to delivering a budget for residents, and a budget that can continue to support the borough's most vulnerable residents, while making savings of £45 million over the next three years.
Newham wants the budget process to be as open and transparent as possible. The first stage of that was the publication of a budget simulator and short survey where residents were invited to take part. This summarised the financial position and enabled residents to suggest how they would go about meeting the financial challenges.
An extensive public engagement programme then took place across the borough to discuss the budget proposals in January 2020. The results of this were reported back, in public, to Cabinet for its meeting on 18 February 2020, with all of Newham's councillors meeting on 2 March to vote on a final proposal.
