Licence to keep or train animals for exhibition
You require a licence from The London Borough of Newham if you want to keep or train animals for exhibition in the course of a business for educational or entertainment purposes:
- To any audience attending in person or
- By the recording of visual images of them by any form of technology that enables the display of such images.
Before granting a licence we will check that you comply with all the general and specific conditions as required by Schedule 2 and Schedule 7 of The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018. A licence once granted is valid for three years.
It is against the law not to obtain a licence and it is your legal responsibility to ensure you have a current licence.
For further information or to request an application form and the licence conditions, please email animal.welfare@newham.gov.uk or telephone us on 020 8586 9739.
If you are unsure if you require a licence please contact the animal welfare service before exhibiting or displaying any animals to prevent potential legal action being taken or a warning being issued as this may affect you being able to apply for a licence in the future.
