Support for those aged 16 to 19
If you’re aged 16-17, you may be able to claim certain benefits or tax credits if you are on a low income, looking for work, sick, disabled, expecting a baby, bringing up children or caring for another adult.
Jobseeker's Allowance
If you are 16 or 17, you will only be able to get Jobseeker’s Allowance in exceptional circumstances. For example, you are no longer on friendly terms with your family and you are living in poverty.
If you think you may have exceptional circumstances, call your local JobCentre Plus office.

Care to learn
Care to Learn is a scheme that could help you with the cost of child care if you are learning and are aged under 20.

Support in finding work
If you have been living in Newham for a year or more, you may be able to get help and support from Our Newham Work, a recruitment organisation that makes sure local people benefit from local jobs, including apprenticeships.
16-19 bursaries
If you are aged between 16 and 19 and think you might struggle with the costs for full-time education or training you may be able to get a bursary.
