Christmas Tree Collections
From 26 December 2024 until 19 January 2025, you can book your FREE Christmas tree collection. Please note that collections for Christmas Trees will not start until the 6th January 2025.
*Important: Please do not book your collection before 26 December 2024 as your collection request will not be recognised.
Real Christmas Trees collected by us are composted into soil that can then be used to grow new trees and plants.
Please be advised that only Real Christmas Trees will be collected, any other Green Garden Waste will be left.
Before your tree is collected, please remove all Christmas decorations, including baubles (glass or plastic), tinsel, and lights. Most decorations cannot be recycled and should be disposed of in your green-lidded general waste bin or taken to the Jenkins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre.
After booking your collection, please ensure your undecorated tree is placed at the edge of your property and NOT on the pavement.
Collections will take place as soon as possible.

More information on what you can recycle can be found on Recycling at Christmas – Newham Council.
We collect green and garden waste from Newham residents. This kind of waste can be recycled into compost. No garden waste should be put in the rubbish bins.
Before you apply please make sure:
- It is a type of green waste that we can collect – which includes leaves, pruned branches, wood shavings and more.
- Prepare your green waste for collection in black bags so you know how many bags you want us to collect.
- Up to 10 bags will be collected per booking
We aim to collect within five working days of your request. All bookings are subject to a fair use policy.
Garden Waste collections are available from March to September.

Leave your green waste in normal black bin bags or in tied bundles at the boundary of your property
Please do not:
-
Put green garden waste into your normal rubbish wheelie bin
-
Use orange recycling bags as these are for recycling only
-
Fill bags too full - we will need to lift them into the back of a refuse vehicle.
Home composting
We subsidise compost bins for home composting. If you compost at home you will help reduce costs for the council, and have free compost which is great for the garden. You can find out more on the composting page.
