Parking, Permits and Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs)

Parking Fraud Alerts

1. Parking Penalty Text Scam

Scammers are sending fake SMS messages about unpaid Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to steal money.

Important Information:

  • We never contact customers via SMS for unpaid PCNs unless the debt has been passed to an enforcement agent.
  • Legitimate enforcement agents will identify themselves and provide a contact phone number.
  • We will never include a payment link in any SMS message.

2. Car Park Machine QR Code Scam

Fraudsters are placing bogus QR codes on parking machines to trick customers into making payments.

Important Information:

  • We do not use QR codes for paid parking in any of our car parks or on-street bays.
  • Always download parking apps directly from official app stores, not via QR codes.
  • Watch the PaybyPhone video for guidance on safely downloading and using the app.

3. Fake Parking Officers

Scammers are impersonating enforcement or parking officers.

Important Information:

  • They may claim your parking payment failed and ask for money or your card PIN.
  • Our officers will never ask for payment or collect money directly from you.
