Activities, Opportunities and Support
Newham’s MASH is the single point of contact for all request for support and safeguarding concerns about children in the borough. It brings together professionals from key services — including Children’s Social Care, Adult Social Care, Police, Health, Education, Housing, Youth Justice, Early Help, and specialist support providers — to share information and make decisions about what further action of support or intervention can help children and families. This joined-up approach helps to keep children safe, identify needs early, and ensure families get the right help at the right time.
If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child, or want to request support for a child and family , you can contact the MASH directly on 0203 373 4600.
- You can make a referral or raise a concern anonymously if you prefer.
- If you are unable to get through, and you believe a child is at immediate risk of harm, call 999 straight away.
If you are a professional working with a family and you have safeguarding concerns about a child who does not already have a social worker, you will need to complete an online referral form: www.newham.gov.uk/MASH
If you are unable to get through to MASH by phone and there is an immediate safeguarding concern, please call 999.

Fostering is when you care for a child and give them a family life in your home because their own family is unable to do so. Foster carers make a powerful difference in the lives of children and young people by providing safety, support, and love. Children and young people come into the care of the local authority for many different reasons. This may be because of a parent's illness, family difficulties, or concerns such as neglect or abuse. These children and young people need to experience a positive family life which is why we are always recruiting individuals and families from all cultural backgrounds to provide the loving and caring homes that they deserve.
